  • The property is developed and has historically operated as a highly successful Container Freight Station (CFS) offering container, motor vehicle and cargo handling services. Before the advent of the SGR the facility handled on average 1500 containers and 400 motor vehicle units(in and out) a month and was awarded the‘Best CFS Operator’ by the Kenya Revenue Authority, in 2018 in recognition of high compliance standards. The yard has a capacity of 2,800 teus (20’ foot containers equivalent) and 400 motor vehicles per month.
    The boundaries to the facility are marked by a coral stone perimeter wall with metal grilles to sections and topped with a nine strand electric fence.

    The total built up area is 55,215 square feet of office, bonded warehouses, administration
    block and workshops creating a fully functioning CFS. The facility is one of East Africa’s
    largest and most technologically advanced CFS operations, with direct rail links to the port and the key markets of Nairobi and Kampala.
    The facility has two 600-meter railway lines which can accommodate four trains simultaneously. Each train movement replaces approximately 40 truck movements, alleviating overburdened Mombasa road networks and reducing time spent by importers picking up cargo at the point.
